The Pacific Islands Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (PISUMB) was launched on October 21st 2022.

PISUMB covers the region called Oceania which spans approximately 165 million square kilometers of ocean and islands and can be divided into three distinct groups: Melanesia, which includes Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and New Guinea, Polynesia, including Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Tuvalu and Micronesia which includes Kiribati & Marshall Islands.

Due to the vast distances between the islands, both ultrasound service delivery and ultrasound education opportunities can be challenging.
